Cesar Martinez-Alvarez

Cesar B. Martinez-Alvarez is an assistant professor of political science at the University of California, Santa Barbara. While a Ph.D. candidate in the Political Science Department at the University of California, Los Angeles, Cesar was selected as a 2019-2020 IGCC dissertation fellow. He is an environmental social scientist interested in combining quantitative methods and extensive qualitative sources to understand the political economy of climate change and deforestation, among other environmental problems. His dissertation studies the political logic of deforestation—a major source of greenhouse gas—and climate change adaptation, with a regional focus in Latin America.
