2019–2020 IGCC Academic Conference Competition

At a Glance

  • The University of California Institute on Global Conflict and Cooperation (IGCC) will make one $75,000 award for an academic conference on a theme related to its mission and research agenda.
  • Full-time UC ladder-rank faculty are encouraged to apply. US citizenship is not required.
  • Projects that have a policy emphasis and that include a mix of academic and non-academic participants are encouraged, as are projects that address a particular concern of the state of California within a broader international context.
  • The conference must be held no later than June 30, 2020. Unused funds must be returned to IGCC. Funding may not be carried into future years.

  • Download the RFP (PDF). Make sure you understand the requirements and that your project is a good fit.
  • Download the budget worksheet (Excel). ThIs Excel document is filled out with an example budget. Make a copy of the document and type over the data to create your budget. 
  • Use the web form below.
  • Before you start the form, read the instructions.
  • Have your attachments ready before you start. Attachments must be pdfs. 
  • All applications require a proposal narrative, an itemized budget and budget justification, and current CVs for PI and co-PIs. You can upload as one pdf or several, but please make sure to include the PI's name in the file name. 
  • All applicants need to have a brief abstract (1,000 characters) ready to paste into the web form.
  • NOTE: You must start and finish your application in one session. You will not be able to come back and make changes. Contact technical help if you need to make changes to a submitted application.
