Founded in 1983, University of California's Institute on Global Conflict
and Cooperation (IGCC) studies the causes of international
conflict and helps devise options for resolving it through
international cooperation.
In 1997, IGCC established an office in Washington, D.C., to
promote closer links between UC research and the
policy community. IGCC's unique structure enables it to build
research teams from the ten UC campuses and the UC-managed
Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos National Laboratories.
IGCC's Washington office can provide Congress with expert testimony, member and staff briefings,
and publications on the following subjects:
- Global climate change
- Transborder environmental issues
- Middle East policy
- Northeast Asia security cooperation
- Terrorism
- Nuclear issues in South Asia
- Critical infrastructure protection
- International health diplomacy
- Biosecurity
IGCC communicates ideas and research results to the Hill through conferences,
seminars, workshops, and policy briefings. It also disseminates
articles and research publications by UC faculty to Congress. Additionally, IGCC
facilitates undergraduate and graduate internship programs
that can provide help to members of Congress and Congressional committees.
We encourage you to contact us about expert testimony for
Congressional hearings, briefings on any foreign policy-related issues on your
agenda, or about placing highly motivated interns in your office.
