IGCC's Washington, D.C., Office
Resources for UC Faculty and Fellows
The IGCC Washington office was established in
March 1997 to promote closer ties between UC researchers
and the policy community. Based at the University
of California's Washington Center on Rhode Island
Avenue, NW, IGCC's Washington office
seeks to collaborate with the IGCC campus program offices on projects
and programs that benefit UC faculty and students
through closer links to the policy world. Washington
Representative Joseph McGhee and
IGCC Development Officer Elisa Lurkis
are eager to work with faculty on all campuses to set up activities
and events of the types detailed below.
Policy Briefings and Seminars on Faculty Research
Funders have become ever more particular about seeing evidence of dissemination of research results in this time of budget cuts.
IGCC can help to develop policy-based colloquia for a Washington, D,C., audience, including key policymakers, government officials,
and representatives of NGOs, think tanks, and foundations.
IGCC can generate invitation lists, make logistical arrangements, and
assist in making appropriate contacts. Sample language and budgets for
use in initial grant proposals. For more information on this

Support for Washington-Based Research
Visiting IGCC faculty and students may reserve short-term office space in advance
by contacting the IGCC Washington office. Faculty and doctoral dissertation
students using the Library of Congress holdings and make arrangements through
IGCC
for the use of study carrels in the library's Jefferson Building.
D.C.-Based Conferences
With its high-tech auditorium and array of conference and seminar rooms, the UCDC facility is an ideal central
location for small to medium conferences related to IGCC work.
