| IGCC's campus programs promote research, outreach, and training on each UC campus. Through its annual internship, fellowship, and grant competitions, IGCC stimulates both independent and collaborative research among and between faculty and students. IGCC funds have supported research activities for UC undergraduate and graduate students, faculty, visiting scholars, government officials, and the general public.
As the campus programs and the services IGCC provide to them grow and change, IGCC continues to seek innovative partnerships with extramural organizations that will benefit UC students and faculty and provide a bridge between UC scholars and the national and international policy communities.

Campus Affiliates
IGCC's strength as a multi-campus research unit (MRU) serving the University
of California lies in the unique contributions of each affiliated campus program
and in projects with the UC-managed Lawrence Livermore (LLNL) and Los
Alamos National Laboratories (LANL). Each of these unique campus-based programs
supports UC faculty and students through grants, fellowships, research and
teaching assistantships, internships, employment opportunities, programming,
new major/minor study programs, and the Campus

activities such as lectures, workshops, and seminars involve faculty, students,
and community members in debate and discussion on scholarship related to global
conflict and cooperation.
IGCC also continues to seek innovative projects in partnership
with the Los Alamos and Lawrence Livermore National Laboratories. These partnerships
focus on ways to coordinate
joint campus/lab events, provide lab-based fellowship opportunities, and
encourage faculty and student scholarship exchange with the national laboratories.
Funding
Opportunities
IGCC has funded graduate student
research and faculty
projects throughout the
UC system since its inception. Since 1988, IGCC has funded more than 400
individual Ph.D. dissertation fellowships and more than 170 faculty grants
through its
annual competitions.
Dissertation fellows have come from a range of disciplines,
including literature, philosophy, political science, economics, sociology,
anthropology,
history, communications, legal studies, religious studies, urban development,
environmental studies, and energy resources.
IGCC has committed significant
resources to faculty research
support through competitive research, conference,
and teaching grants. These are designed
to stimulate independent research and educations projects on international
issues
of contemporary importance.
In 1998 IGCC began offering summer internships
in Washington, D.C. To date, it has sponsored more than 60 summer interns,
providing funding and placement help.
Additionally,
many graduate students find employment as research assistants under
IGCC-funded
grants.
Steering Committee
The IGCC Campus Programs Coordinator serves as the
main liaison between the IGCC central office at UC San Diego and
the thirteen members of the
Steering Committee. The committee comprises a UC faculty member from each
campus, an additional faculty chairperson, and representatives from the UC-managed
Lawrence Livermore and Los Alamos National Laboratories.
At its spring and fall
meetings each year, the committee advises the IGCC director on ongoing programs
and future research endeavors and allocates the IGCC fellowship,
grant, and campus program awards. Committee members are appointed by the
UC Office of the President Office of Research and normally serve three-year
terms. Link to information on current Steering
